Joonas Saari

"Designer Joonas Saari took inspiration from Andrei Tarkovsky’s films Andrei Rublev and Stalker, and combined it with a myriad of images of Alberto Giacometti’s obscure portraits and pictures of men's old overcoats. The outcome is a strong look that mixes ethnic slouchiness with traditional tailoring for a new, more primal attitude. A novel speciality of the collection are burnt silver needles in various lengths that - aside being a conspicuous detail - also substitute for buttons. Another addition to the collection are men's split leather ankle boots in dark grey, which fuse the qualities of a classic shoe with the feel of a hiking boot – something you might imagine entering another dimension in. This is the essence of Marrow. It is not merely a coat on a hanger, but a total life experience in itself for you to enter. You may be transferred to another time and dimension. Transported beyond this world and back again"
